BREXIT CHANGES FOR EU CUSTOMERS

For EU-based customers please be aware that there has been a significant change to importing from us as a result of Brexit (a very regrettable act in our view). Value Added Tax (aka VAT, sales tax or GST) will now be the sole responsibility of customers who we ship to in the EU. This tax will be collected by the courier before they deliver – they usually send an email with a bill for the VAT. Note that VAT is only charged as a percentage of the cost of the jewellery, and is not charged against shipping costs.

Please see the table above as a guide for what VAT charges you can expect if your are receiving your order in the EU. Please note that the figures in it are taken from the most up to date sources that we could find but we take no responsibility for any more recent changes made by EU countries. Please check with your government for the most up to date VAT rate or if your country is not mentioned in the table.

 

Brexit import changes explained:

 

Before Brexit no import duties or taxes were charged to EU customers when they bought from us, as we are based in the UK. This is because trade within EU borders was counted the same as within one country in the EU. So our customers in Paris could buy from us the same as if they had ordered from a shop in Marseille or Berlin.

However, because the UK is no longer part of the EU, VAT will now be charged to EU customers. This tax goes to the government of the country in which the order has been delivered. It is the sole responsibility of EU customers when we ship to them and it will charged be at the normal rate of VAT in the customer's country.

 

We have always stated that any import duties and taxes are the responsibility of the customer – this is standard for e-commerce businesses and our loyal customers in other parts of the world have always had to be responsible for them. However we fully appreciate that this may present a big change for our many hugely valued EU customers. Order Preparation Times

Our jewellery is handmade to order. Preparation times vary according to the number of processes involved and stock levels. However we now offer a READY TO SHIP section for our Best Sellers with expedited preparation times. Please see each product for specific preparation times. Please get in touch with the studio if you need your order quickly, or for a special occasion via info@rubyjacklondon.com

Duties and taxes are not the responsibility of Ruby Jack and are to be paid by the customer if and where applicable.

Shipping Times

Shipping times are estimated in addition to preparation times.

All options are provided at checkout.

RETURNS + T&Cs

All sales at Ruby Jack are final. Every piece is hand made to order and therefor cannot be returned unless one of the following applies:

 

All pieces are quality checked and safely packed before leaving the studio. If you receive an item via our studio that you believe to be faulty, you must report the fault including a photo within 3 working days to info@rubyjacklondon.com we reserve the right to refuse a refund on any items that we do not deem to be faulty.

 

If your item shows a fault after some time, please contact info@rubyjacklondon.com with a full description of the issue + a photo. We reserve the right to refuse a refund on any items that we do not deem to be faulty. 

 

If your item does not fit as shown or described, please contact info@rubyjacklondon.com to discuss a re-sizing or to exchange for another size. 

 

Please note that all jewellery from The Shape Of Sound Collection is created through the process of lost wax casting. Casting holes (small dips and holes) in the jewellery are a natural part of the process and are unique to each piece. Casting holes are to be embraced and are not in any way a fault in the design. Makers marks and tiny polishing scratches are also not faults and are simply part of the hand made process.

Gold plating is ephemeral in nature and will wear over time. We recommend you visit the jewellery care page to learn how to best maintain your gold plated items. To discuss a re-plating service, please contact the studio at info@rubyjacklondon.com shipping and labour will be charged at cost for this service. Alternatively you can contact a local jeweller to enquire about a local re-plating service.

Eco Silver will patina over time but can easily be re-polished at home. To learn how to best care for your silver jewellery, please visit our jewellery care page. To arrange a professional re-polish or to remove any deep scratches, 

please either contact a local jeweller or contact the studio at info@rubyjacklondon.com shipping and labour will be charged at cost for this service.

All pieces from the Anima collection are made by hand from brass wire and sterling silver solder. Any small signs of solder are not a fault and simply a part of the hand made process. To keep your Anima pieces looking shiny, please read the care instructions provided or visit our jewellery care page.

Some pieces from the SIA, Good Intentions and Anima Collections are made using Patina. Patina is ephemeral in nature and will wear and change over time. This is simply the nature of patina, but should you wish to arrange to have your pieces re-painted, please contact the studio via info@rubyjacklondon.com shipping and labour will be charged at cost for this service.

Please read the care instructions included with your order to prevent damage and to pro-long the life of your jewellery.

JEWELLERY CARE

To keep your unique Ruby Jack Jewels looking their best, please minimise direct contact with water, chlorine, perfumes, lotions, aerosols and other cosmetics as they may accelerate the development of oxidisation on brass jewellery and wear away any painted patina. Remove all jewellery when showering, swimming and exercising. 

Patina and raw brass are ephemeral in nature and will change over time. Patinas will wear away gradually and brass will deepen in colour as it oxidises. We encourage you to embrace these changes and to enjoy your jewellery as it evolves.

RAW BRASS


To keep your brass jewellery looking shiny and golden, simply clean the brass with the 0000 grade wire wool pouch provided. This will reduce the natural build up of oxidisation. Do not use wire wool on painted patina, pearl or stone. You can easily buy replacement wire wool online.

PAINTED PATINA

Painted patina is intrinsically ephemeral,  it may chip over time to reveal the brass finish underneath - an effect that we feel looks beautiful.

18K GOLD PLATED BRASS

To keep your gold plated jewellery shiny and bright, wipe down before or after each wear with the polishing cloth provided.

STERLING (925) SILVER

Sterling silver is marvellously robust. It can last centuries and be worn every day. Maintain by regularly polishing with a microfibre cloth or, if beginning to darken with natural patina, use a silver dip solution such as Town Talk Silver Sparkle.
